In 1962 AC shipped its first engineless cars to Shelby's California works where Carroll fitted an engine and transmission in less than eight hours then took it out for a test. Ford's new lightweight, thin wall cast small block was tuned for high performance. The light weight AC body proved what Shelby had set out to do; build a forceful competitor to the Chevrolet Corvette.

Today this famous and most recognizable sports car is once again being built for Carroll Shelby. The CSX4000 series has retained its original 1960 style but has been fitted with a few modern amenities. The authenticity of each vehicle is documented in the Shelby registry and the chassis bears a Shelby CSX number. The MSO's also bear the Shelby name. The bodies are fiberglass and the frame has been strengthened utilizing better alloys for components. Additionally, modern cooling methods have been used along with heat shields to make these cars safer and more drivable without losing original character. Just like the original race car, your frame is constructed using 4" round tube main rails with a 120 wall thickness. The 90" wheelbase carries a four wheel independent suspension with dual A-arms and coil over shocks. The original look is maintained with the 15" Halibrand Style pin drive wheels, original style roll bar, custom made headers and side pipes. A large aluminum radiator, rack and pinion steering, and Salisbury style differential are also standard features. The interior boasts Shelby signature series custom gauges and an original style 15” wood steering wheel. Modern upgrades include custom Shelby branded brakes and specially commissioned shocks which ensure safety without detracting from the original look. Once you're behind the wheel, feel the thunder in your seat, and feel what it’s like to hit 0-60 MPH in under 4 seconds you will understand the mystique of this true American Legend.
